In response to the persistent challenges posed by fog-related flight delays causing disruptions and chaos at airports, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has introduced a fresh set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to mitigate passenger inconvenience. The minister, in a social media post on platform X, emphasized the need for immediate action and outlined key measures to address the ongoing issues.
He announced the implementation of thrice-daily incidence reporting for all six metro airports, monitoring of DGCA directives, SOPs, and CARs compliance, establishment of 'War Rooms' at metro airports which will immediately address to any issue related passengers inconvinience caused by flight disruption. Along with this, deployment of sufficient CISF manpower round-the-clock. Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata are all metro cities.
Additionally, the minister highlighted the operationalization of RWY 29L at Delhi Airport under CAT III conditions and plans for the same for RWY 10/28 after re-carpeting.
